JAVA J2ME

JAVA J2ME is a variant of successful JAVA language targeted for mobile devices such as PDA, MDA, cell phones, mobile communicators and other consumer appliances.

It is return of JAVA to its roots.  Before JAVA went onto its successful crusade into banking, insurance and other „enterprise“ sectors it was developed under codename OAK as a language for mini devices.


JAVA J2ME as well as its mature version successfully conquered the world and is currently being installed on more than 80% new mobile devices.
Therefore it is no surprise that Siemens chose this language for its TC45,TC55, TC65 and AC75 GSM modules

JAVA J2ME has smaller subset of standard APIs that is mandated by limited capabilities of mobile devices in terms of processor‘s performance, applications‘ available memory, display device type, etc.
Development for mini devices is always a struggle in smallest application size coupled with best performance. With the right knowledge it is a winning solution.

Thanks to its philosophy and architecture JAVA J2ME offers highly reliable runtime environment and it is a new, unknown but a great choice in M2M area.
