M2M 

Acronym for Machine-to-Machine , M2M is the ability of machines, assets and devices to exchange data with people or company's management systems in need of the information. M2M is derived from telemetry technology and uses similar, but updated versions of those technologies. Today's cellular M2M technology uses field-deployed wireless device a wireless carrier network and a back-end server network. In some instances M2M is used to mean Machine-to-Man.

In recent years, the dense mobile network coverage has helped in quick evolvement of M2M applications. M2M tracks corporate fleets, data exchange between ATMs, remotely controls central heating, etc.

M2M communications is changing the way that companies do business and how governments deliver quality of life services. M2M devices are in use today in every conceivable type of industry and market, saving money, saving time and saving lives.

M2M aplications:

  • Property surveillance with link to central monitoring station
  • Fleet management  - series of specific tasks in the management of any or all aspects relating to a companies fleet of vehicles.
  • Automotive - Details such as mileage, fuel consumption, and much more, are gathered into a global statistics scheme.
